Sometime people get to wondering as to what they are suppose to do. Sometime people just get caught up in things they shouldn't be caught up in. Here is a verse out of the Bible I like to remember at times like that.

Jer 6:16 This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.....

First thing we need to realize when we read this, is that God is talking to his people. Who are his people? They where the Israelites, they where people that believed in him.

So why is he telling them to ask for the ancient paths? He is telling them to do this because they had strayed. They had lost there way and didn't know how they where suppose to live.

So what does God mean when he says: Ask for the ancient paths?

1. There is a time proven way and if you ask and I'll tell you what it is.

2. You do this and you will find peace.

What does this tell us? It tells us that God wanted the best for them. Most of us usually think God just does this to control us.

But what did they do? God tells us:

Jer 6:16...... but you said, `We will not walk in it.'

In other words: We think we know better. We want to do it our way.

Does this sound familiar? I know it does to me. It doesn't just apply to the Israelites, it applies to everyone, even people that don't believe in God.

God is talking to his people in this verse, but it applies to all.

So lets say we finally reach the point that we do want to know what these ancient paths are. God shows us and we try to live the way God wants us to, but like all people we fail miserably at it many times. So what do I do now?

Well, thankfully God made provisions for that. Check out this next verse:

Rom 10:11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

And if you don't know Jesus yet? God made provisions for that also. You just have to do the following:

Rom 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

But there is one thing that is very important: Please, don't just go thru the motions, do and really mean it. There is actually a scripture that warns against just saying it and not meaning it from the heart.

Jas 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.

So remember that it is easy, but you have to be sincere.

Lets seek God and follow the time proven paths he has laid out for us.
