That is something a lot of people debate. I would like to make a few points and then let you make up your own mind as to what you want to believe.
RO 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
According to the Bible, the whole created world reveals God. All you have to do is take time to look at it objectively.
The Native Americans knew there was a God long before the Christians came and told them. They may have called him something else and they may not have known Jesus, but they knew there had to be a creator.
Let's teach about God from science instead of the Bible and see where it takes us.
1) Everything has to have a cause. Nothing just happens. The universe had a beginning so it had to have a cause. Something made it happen. If you don't believe this, something causes you not to believe this.
2) It is proven; the universe is not permanent (sun, earth). If it has an end, it had to have a beginning.
3) What about Creation out of nothing?
The universe is actually expanding. Mathematically if you go backwards you end up with nothing. This makes sense.
So if we believe scientists the universe did start with a big bang.
There is even radiation afterglow in the universe, which scientists believe are remains from the initial explosion.
You say: What does that proof? Lets look at some facts.
4) How is it possible?
The Explosion had to be just strong enough to allow the planets to congregate.
The Centrifugal forces have to balance the Gravitational forces, or nothing would be held in place around the sun.
If the universe had expanded slower it would have collapsed back in on itself. If faster the galaxies wouldn't have formed.
If the rotation period of the earth where shorter (faster), the wind would be too strong,
If it where longer (slower), the temperature differences would be too great.
5) Lets talk about the atmosphere:
Oxygen level: If it was 25% fires would erupt, 15% we would suffocate, you need the perfect level of oxygen.
Higher CO2 level's would allow the green house effect and we would all burn up. If it where lower, the plants wouldn't be able to maintain efficient photosynthesis, we wouldn't be able to breath, because of not enough Oxygen.
If the Atmosphere was more transparent: too much solar radiation, less transparent: not enough solar radiation
Gravitational pull moon and earth: less would mean climatic changes, more would mean tidal effects.
So lets ask a couple of questions: If there is no God why is there something rather then nothing?
Can we believe this is all an accident?
The decision is obviously yours. If you make the wrong decision it could have very lasting consequences. Please think it thru, ask more questions, or whatever it takes to make up your mind.
There is only one problem that I see with believing in God. We are not in charge. To a lot of people that is a huge deal. If there is a God and we believe we become accountable to him, are we willing to do that?
This is not magic. It is a decision. What is your decision?
